In this space, the homeowner selected SlateFlex (colour: Natural Rustica) by Surface Innovation to surround the fireplace. Using flexible 4′ x 8′ sheets, we easily created a beautiful natural stone focal point for the great room.

They Loved It!

Earlier this year, we supplied and installed a beautiful feature wall for the season finale of the hit television show Love It or List It Vancouver. The episode recently aired on the W Network and the homeowners LOVED IT!

A huge THANK YOU to celebrity interior designer Jillian Harris for selecting The Eco Floor Store to supply and install the show-stopping feature wall for the season finale of Love It or List It Vancouver.

The wall treatment is made with reclaimed barn wood tiles handmade by Everitt & Schilling. Julia Whyte, Assistant Designer for Love It or List It Vancouver, said our wall feature is her “absolute favourite” aspect of the renovation!

Wood Wall Tiles Featured on Love It or List It Vancouver

We were on the edge of our seats the whole episode… We couldn’t wait to find out if homeowners Jeff and Paige loved their renovated home or decided to sell their home on Season 1, Episode 13 of Love It or List It Vancouver.

Co-host and interior designer Jillian Harris killed it once again and the homeowners LOVED it! And we 100% agree – the renovation was spectacular.

The Eco Floor Store supplied and installed one of our unique environmentally friendly wall surfaces for the season finale of the hit television series: reclaimed barn wood wall tiles by Everitt & Schilling Tile Co.

Jillian hand-picked the wood tiles for the striking feature wall in the dining room. The feature wall is 7′ wide and the white wash tiles – 3″ x 6″ in a traditional herringbone pattern – go floor to ceiling. It’s a great design idea to help visually separate the dining area from the living room without taking up much (if any!) space! Love, love, love it!

Julia Whyte, Assistant Designer for Love It or List It Vancouver, had this to say about our beautiful feature wall installation:

“There were sooo many elements that I absolutely loved, but I have to admit that the whitewashed reclaimed barn board herringbone wall treatment was my absolute favourite. I love all of those adjectives on their own, so imagine my delight when I saw that someone had combined them into one super-product! I didn’t just love this product though; I also love HOW we used it.

Often times open-concept houses lack any kind of definition to the rooms. By centering the barn board on the wall to the dining room light fixture and making it as wide as the eating area, we not only defined the dining portion of the space, we added a gorgeous feature that brings an incredible amount of beach charm to the whole main floor since you can see it from the kitchen and living room as well.” (Read her full recap here.)

Everitt & Schilling wood wall tiles are made from reclaimed wood found in old barns throughout the western United States. The tiles are handmade and available in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours. + Learn more here

Love It or List It Vancouver

I’ll admit that I’m not the best at keeping a secret. When something amazing is happening, it’s really hard for me to keep quiet about it! (If you follow me on Twitter, you probably know what I mean!)

Drum roll please…

For the past couple of months, we’ve had the pleasure to work once again with celebrity interior designer Jillian Harris. (Last year, we worked with Jillian as she designed the beautiful PNE Prize Home). As the co-host of the new hit series Love It or List It Vancouver on the W Network, Jillian hand-picked one of our environmentally friendly wall surfaces for one of the episodes.

That’s right, we’re going to be on TV!

Tune in on Monday, April 1st at 10 PM on the W Network to watch Jillian as she designs a show-stopping renovation in sunny Tsawwassen for homeowners Jeff and Paige. Here’s the description of Season 1 Episode 13:

Jeff and Paige’s love for their beach community means living in what was once a too-small summer cottage. With a growing family Jeff turns to Jillian to create more room, while Paige asks Todd to find them a larger, functional home.

But, will Jeff and Paige love it or list it? (We don’t even know!) We’ll be watching with you to find out!

Sweet Things!

We’ve got lots of sweet things happening at The Eco Floor Store this month. Some sweet like chocolate mouse cakes, others sweet like awards and big discounts. And all of it equality as satisfying! (OK, maybe the cakes are a little sweeter…)

Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery

We can’t think of anything that pairs more perfectly than chocolate cake and eco-friendly floors. Turns out the delicious Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery in Vancouver agrees with us.

We supplied and installed Marmoleum floors in the kitchen and VinylCork floors for the eating area. If you live in Vancouver, go treat yourself!

The Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery has quickly become one of Vancouver’s sweetest destinations. Located in the hip Cambie street neighbourhood, Lemonade Bakery offers its guests a diverse and decadent gluten free menu.

In addition to delicious goodies, the bakery also features two of our environmentally friendly floors: Marmoleum^® Real and VinylCork.

In the kitchen (where all the gluten free magic happens!), we supplied and installed 430 sq.ft. of Marmoleum^® Real flooring in “Mist Grey”. Marmoleum® floors are made with a 100% mix of pre-consumer recycled content. They are also SMaRT Certified and qualify for LEED® credits.

In the entrance and eating area, the owner chose VinylCork flooring in “English Barn”. Comfortable on the feet yet very durable, VinylCork floors are also very eco-friendly. The vinyl layer is made of post-consumer recycled content and the cork layer is sustainably harvested from a quickly regenerating natural resource.

Restoration Chiropractic

Last year, Restoration Chiropractic opened their new clinic in Surrey. Dr. Trevor Mains wanted the floors in his new practice to be durable, easy to clean and above all, non-toxic for his patients.

The Eco Floor Store supplies and installed over 2,000 sq. ft. of environmentally friendly vinyl plank flooring throughout his new office. We got a little fancy with the installation by changing the direction of the planks to create a little more oomph!

Project Profile: Restoration Chiropractic

Last year, Dr. Trevor Mains at Restoration Chiropractic gave us a call. He was looking for environmentally friendly floors for his new practice in Surrey, BC. He told us he wanted great looking, durable and easy to clean floors that were non-toxic for his employees and patients.

We recommended vinyl plank floors by Harbinger™ Flooring. This glue-down vinyl plank floor is a great option for a high-traffic area as it’s durable and easy to maintain. It also qualifies for LEED credits because it’s made with recycled content and low-emitting materials. Harbinger Flooring is available in a wide range of colours, which makes it easy to find the perfect plank for any space.

We supplied and installed over 2,000 square feet of “Iron Muskwood” vinyl plank flooring for Dr. Mains’ clinic.

In the entrance, we changed the direction of the vinyl planks to frame the beautiful antique reception desk.

We did the same design throughout the clinic to add depth to every space.

It was a pleasure helping Dr. Mains successfully open his new chiropractic clinic. If you live in the Surrey, White Rock and Langley area, make sure to give them a visit!

Thank You!

As 2012 comes to an end, we’ve been reflecting on all the amazing people and projects we’ve had the pleasure of working with this past year. And all we’ve got to say is: Thank YOU!

Vancouver – and all the way to Toronto! – has fallen in love with our eco-friendly surfaces. We couldn’t have asked for better earth-loving friends, from very talented designers, ultra green builders and homeowners with big visions.

We had a great time at this year’s IDSwest. It was a busy, busy weekend with a ton of great people. Our upcycled Finium FriendlyWall solid wood panels and reclaimed barn wood wall tiles were a huge hit.
