Project Profile: Power Smart Linwood Cardinal Cabin

Posted on February 23, 2015 by Jared

The Linwood Cardinal Cabin presented by BC Hydro Power Smart is a stylish and environmentally friendly home kit by Linwood Custom Homes. Designed by award-winning Jamie Banfield Design, the eco-chic cabin features sustainable building technologies and green building materials.

The Eco Floor Store supplied and installed two of our eco-friendly wall surfaces for the cabin. For the kitchen backsplash, Jamie selected classicBRICK by Hourwall and for the kitchen and stair landing walls he picked Peel + Stick Wood by Stikwood.

classicBRICK is an eco-friendly alternative to real bricks. The panels are 48″ x 24″ and available in five colours. We love the “vintage white” in the cabin’s kitchen – the white counters and classicBRICK wall surface, stainless steel appliances and heron blue cabinets are stunning. And those raw wood shelves… wow!

Stikwood is a Peel + Stick Wood wall planking. Made in the USA from recycled snow fences, the VOC-free planks are available in a variety of colours and can be installed in your choice of pattern. The “white wash” finish is a beautiful complement to the white and grey tones of the kitchen.

While we love our wall surfaces, we also love many of the other details in the home. We’re a huge fan of all of the wood furniture throughout the cabin. It’s these details and more that helped make this home “Best in Show”!

Let the Bidding War Begin!

Vin de Garde Modern Wine Cellar Systems is Vancouver’s premier manufacturer of custom wine cellars and wine storage systems. Using a wide range of materials, such as glass, steel, acrylic and wood, each of their custom built solutions is a highly functional and beautiful space designed specifically for each client (and their wine!).

The Design A Panel contest is a friendly competition featuring 60 select interior designers to help raise funds for Covenant House in Vancouver. Here’s how it works:

1. Each designer is supplied with a 12″ x 10″ clear acrylic panel. The panels are part of Vin de Garde’s wine wall series, a modular kit that allows you to build your own wine wall.

2. Using our creativity, each competitor is tasked to embellish their clear acrylic panel.

3. All 60 beautiful  panels will be displayed in a large wine wall and then auctioned off individually to raise funds.

The Eco Floor Store is proud to take part in this creative fundraiser! We decorated three panels with three different eco-friendly wall surfaces: Pearlamina wall tiles, Natura wall tiles and Stikwood.

The free event is on September 26th, 2014. For tickets and additional info, click here. Let’s hope our panels bring in huge dollars for Covenant House!

Custom Clothing Racks & Shelving for Retail Mechandising

Posted on August 20, 2014 by Jared

Visual merchandising is an art form. There are so many factors, including product, location, lighting, positioning, spacing and displays, that need to be in harmony to successfully “attract, engage, and motivate the customer towards making a purchase”. It takes talent and years of experience to do it right.

The team at McBurney Junction Furniture & Interiors in Langley, BC have both. The space they’ve created is beautiful, so much so it’s easy to stay a lot longer (and probably spend a little more!) than anticipated. And every minute and penny is worth it!

One of the keys to successful visual merchandising is to have the right displays to showcase the product. McBurney was looking for new merchandising displays to match their store’s overall branding.

The Eco Floor Store built four pieces for McBurney: two clothing racks, one wall shelf and one floor shelving unit. Designed by Deborah Mansell Designs, we used a combination of materials, including old wooden shelves McBurney wasn’t using (originally from South Africa!), tea stained pine, steel piping and matching couplings for the new displays. Aside from the wall shelf, all units are on wheels to easily move them.

The inspiration for the clothing racks came from this image found online:
