Go Beyond the Surface: November 2014

Eco-Friendly Floors by Metropolitan Hardwood Floors

While we always do our research prior to selecting eco-friendly surfaces for The Eco Floor Store, we don’t always have the opportunity to see first-hand how the products are made. So when Metropolitan asked us if we’d be interested in touring their manufacturing facilities in China, we jumped at the chance.

It was great to see how Metropolitan’s commitment to sustainability and quality is made true in their day-to-day processes during the manufacturing of their hardwood, engineered hardwood and laminate floors.

Wow, wow and wow! Thanks to Metropolitan Hardwood Floors, we visited four cities in China, took a high-speed bullet train, toured lots of must-see attractions, AND – our trip highlight – walked on the Great Wall of China.

Flexible Wall Covering for Columns

Posted on November 22, 2014 by Jared

While columns are necessary for structural purposes, they often aren’t visually exciting. Beckville Woodcrafts made sure that wasn’t the case for the columns in the lobby of BlueShore Centre – financial spa and BlueShore Financial head office – in North Vancouver.

Using flexible stone veneers supplied by The Eco Floor Store, Beckville Woodcrafts visually transformed the columns. Each side of the oblique shaped column is embellished with flexible natural slate veneer and joined at the side with wood molding. The combination of the charcoal “natural rustica” slate with the medium dark wood is beautiful!
